About The Event
Lingga-anay Festival, a vivid and accurate interpretation of the Pan-ayanons’ deep love for our birthplace, strong sense of responsibility toward our fellow Panayanons is held every May 1-4 annually. The term “lingga-anay” was derived from the Big Bell or “Dakung Lingganay” of the Sta. Monica Church known to be the Biggest Catholic Church Bell in Southeast Asia which the town of Panay is well-known for, not only locally but around the world. But on a patriotic note, “lingga-anay” means “to look back,” conveying to the Pan-ayanons outside the country to look back, come home and encourage them to invest on their homeland. The festival began in 1987 during the Appointment to office of Vicente Bermejo.
